Mate` started out as a distinguished cameraman (working for, among others, Dreyer, Clair, Lang, Hitchcock and Lubitsch) and, even if he made a few good films as a director, his career as such was less impressive. In any case, from the rest of his filmography, I would like to watch THE DARK PAST (1948) and THE GREEN GLOVE (1952).
