Bava is my favorite Euro-Horror director and his films are full of extraordinary images and scenes. Besides, he created a new genre, the giallo. How many directors can say that? :)
However I am ashamed to say I have still not seen Lisa and the Devil which most consider his best film.

Jim, did you watch the original RABID DOGS version or the rearranged, edited version "KIDNAPPED"? I thought the original version was the best Euro Crime film I've seen but I've been frightened off the new version because I've heard so many bad things about it.

I opted for the Kidnapped version only. I wasn't really in to mood to watch the same film again albeit a different cut. Maybe in a few months or so I'll Netflix it again and try Rabid Dogs.

Although I've purchased the single disc Anchor Bay double-feature as soon as it was released, I haven't watched it yet. Now, I don't even have too as this disc has been (needlessly) incorporated into the upcoming MARIO BAVA COLLECTION VOL. 2 which, needless to say, I've preordered:frowning:!
Obviously, I'm already familiar with the RABID DOGS cut via my VHS copy taken off the now-OOP Lucertola DVD and I too agree that that version is the zenith of the Italian cop thriller genre known as poliziotteschi.
