I think that I understand what you're saying George (although I had to read that post 3 times :D ).

I don't disagree with what you said, you simply took a different, but equally valid meaning to what I intended.

I should have been more clearer in what I wrote.

Taste is your preference.
The more you experience, the more refined your taste becomes, the more you are able to hone in on exactly what it is that you like.
Those with less experience/knowledge also have 'taste' which is equally valid, but their taste is probably does not yet represent a true picture of that individual as there are so many 'experiences' not yet taken, that could dramatically alter that person's taste.

Hence my poorly worded statement regarding 'superior' taste.
Instead of superior taste, I should have said valid taste.
Someone with x number of movies watched has a truer sense of their own personal taste, their taste is a truer account of what they prefer over someone who has seen less, their sense of taste being somewhat more vague at this point.
This applies equally to someone who's taste is Grade Z schlock and to someone who prefers artsy French films.

And yes, you are correct in stating that it's not just numbers which contribute to taste, but other life experiences as well.

No one forced you into making stupid, lame-ass paraniod-driven insults and put-downs everytime I write something and thinking everything I wrote somehow had something to do with you (secret codes and all that). You're the one who cannot respect other people's opinions and ratings without adding some insipid and insulting comments in this and many other threads.

I believe this all started with my comment in the S&S thread in which I stated that the The Devils VHS (which Jim had just watched) did not represent the film as intended as it had been butchered in so many ways.
You responded with your usual sarcastic insults regarding the "OAR police" and other such crap...and it's been the same lame routine ever since.

As much as you'd like me to Jim, I'm just not going to lie down and play dead to suit you. I've always treated other members of the HTF with respect regardless of personal opinion...unless I'm treated otherwise.

You started this Jim...and you can finish it!

If you don't wish to continue with these threads, I (and I'm sure others too) would be happy to continue them.

These threads are a good idea..but I'd suggest dropping the world "Great" from the thread titles.

Bill went beyond mere forum snoot when he posted that Jim, I let him of easy.

I hope you carry on with these threads. I enjoy finding out how many films I've seen from each director. But I'm getting the impression I'm affecting certain peoples ratings though, maybe I should wait until they've posted theirs before I post mine.;)
