I've replaced the Direct TV H-10 STB unit 5 times due to a loss of picture (goes to snow) about every 15 min. Seems it has a very weak HDMI output. I can sometimes get the picture back by cycling through the format button. I use a 10m Monster HDMI to my Panasonic ae700u projector. My Samsung TS160 has no problem (using DVI adapter) even when HDMI is switched through my new Denon 4806. The H-10 will not even throw a signal when switched via the 4806's HDMI connections. Direct TV's techs claim to be aware but will not recall because 1) the unit is an interim product that will not work with the new MPEG4 satellites HD channels so will have to be exchanged soon anyway. Only the DVR models have sufficient modem ability to be upgradeable to MPEG4. 2) Very few customers use a long run HDMI connection, if using HDMI at all. I've moved the H-10 to another TV that has a 1 meter run. It has a consistent 2 sec (flicker) but returns to a picture. Does anyone have a fix for this problem?
