I'm not sure how many of you will be picking this one up, but I just go mine yesterday, and I spent the whole evening (4 hours) watching this. I missed the miniseries on ABC so I didn't know what to expect, but I told myself that I was going to watch about an hour and then finish it the next day, but once I got into it I couldn't stop.
This isn't the best cgi movie or the best acting, but I enjoy Hallmark's adventure efforts, and the story brought back memories from when I was kid. They used stuff from the book, but many things have been changed, but overall, it turned out well. I'm a huge fan of stories with lost cities, caves, treasures, and anything else that makes an adventure, so being at the edge of my chair was no issue, plus, I didn't have to worry about commercials, and the video transfer, although full screen, looks very nice and clear [IMG]
Backgrounds are nice and the 85 mile main set (waterfall city) was well used. The special effects were done by the creators of Walking With Dinosaurs, which pretty much look the same, except that the dinos in the movie interact with humans, and have armor, or are carry people.
Here are some screenshots, but did anyone enjoy this miniseries? DVD is being released on 7/30.

Although it had it's moments, I thought the 2 main characters were inconsistent, and I also found the socialist overtones annoying.

Thanks for posting the pics Anthony. I didn't even know of the site where you got those scans. Now I do. Great site. I liked this miniseries. It wasn't great, but it was fun, and a good effort by Hallmark. I'll pick up the DVD.

I thought it was pretty good.
I'm currently saving up for a player so I won't be getting it right away, but I'll get it eventually. [IMG]

I never heard of this one. Is it a good family film? (kids are 7 and 10) Are there extremely scary moments?

    Thanks for any help.

I too missed this on TV and am hoping to see it. Just curious though I heard that this one is delayed by two weeks in Canada. Can anyone confirm this?

Nick it was a Miniseries on ABC this year about a Island where Dinosaurs survived and live with humans. It did so well ABC is going to do a regular series starting this fall. The first part was so-so but the movie really was good the last two parts. There are a few scary moments, but kids love this movie. And adults also

ABC planned to do a regular series even before they ran the mini.

What confuses me is that ABC claimed this was filmed in HDTV, they even had a PR saying it would be shown in HDTV and it wasn't. The DVD is 1.33 correct?

Most online retailers are already advertising it for this coming week so it might be that the release date for Canada is August 13, but I doubt it.

I'm also excited about the upcoming series this fall.

I caught the mini-series and thought it was good. But it doesn't really warrant a purchase IMO. I spotted it in a video store in my local mall a week ago, but passed.

And it was successful? I know a show is coming, but can anybody tell me the numbers it took in?

And how are the extras on the set?

Is the DVD edited down from the version shown on TV? it wouldn't be the first time this has happened. 240 mins? If it ran over three nights on ABC, and you allow 30 mins per night for commercials, the running time should be about 270 mins, right? Even if you allow for deletion of credits and recaps, etc it would seem quite a bit might be missing.

David, I'm not sure that I'll buy your figures. I taped the whole mess using commercial advance, and came up with 294 minutes. I don't think that the recaps and credits lasted that long!

I'm not sure yet, but I do believe something was cut, but I'll wait until I finish watching it.
