Dinotopia Disc 2 sound problem?

    I just purchased "Dinotopia" for my sons and they informed me that on disc 2, there wasn't any sound. They showed me where it occurred (Chapter 15 @ 1:04:59 to 1:05:04). They were playing it on our Toshiba SD2107, so I took it downstairs and played it on the Sony DAV300, and the sound dropped out at the same place. Took it back to the store and got a new one and same thing happened. Went back again and on the 3rd one, still the same problem. Anybody else have problems with the sound dropping out on Disc 2?

    Yep, I tried on only one of my players (Panasonic A110) and the sound drops just as the sunstone is about to fall. [​IMG]

    Agreed! My Pioneer has it too. Must be a mfg. defect. I wonder if they'll fix it and we can get them exchanged?

    I just got finished watching my copy and had the same problem. I e-mailed DVD Empire about it. Will have to see what they say.

    Same problem at the same time on my Panasonic RP91. My disc is a rental from Netflix.

    Same on my Malata. Nice to know I'm not the only one with this problem.

    Is there any new info on this? Had the same problem on my Sony 650 changer last night, and was about to bring the disc back to the store.

    Good thing I did a quick search here first!

    Ron E., if you are out there, I am curious if you noticed this when doing your review.

    All that said, it was a very enjoyable disc.

    Mine does it as well, and Ron never answered me when I asked about his copy in the review thread.

    TTT, anybody got contact info for Artisan or Hallmark Entertainment so that we can bring this problem to their attention?

    I emailed Ron and he said he didn't notice a problem with his screener.

    That said, I got a lot of broken links from the site, and could not get to the site for Hallmark and FHE. Perhaps an issue on my end?
    No obvious phone number or e-mail address for customer assurance either......although once I noted problems with the site, a pretty much said to hell with it.

    I also have the sound drop off with Dinotopia on disc 2. In addition, I noticed what seems to be out of sync audio at one part on disc 1 while Marion was talking. I didn't write down the time but I think it was early on. Will have to go back and find it. Has anyone else noticed any out of sync audio with this DVD? I am thinking of exchanging it but am assuming I will still get one with sound drop off on disc 2.

    We watched it over several nights, and did not notice any out of synch audio, but we were not really looking for it.

    I was thinking about the drop out problem, and was wondering if this might be a case of a really bad layer change drop out.

    I don't know if disc 2 is dual layer, and even if it is, don't know where the leyer change is, but I am sure everyone has noticed layer change hiccups on various other dics. To be sure, nothing this severe has ever occurred on any disc or player I have owned.

    I wish we could get Ron's attention on this. I would guess that his copy was a promo from the studio...perhaps he would have a studio contact that could look into the matter.

    I got the same e-mail today.

    I don't know that anyone got the new disc's yet. I won't be sending mine back until tomorrow. I will report the results when it comes in.

    FTR, I sent Hallmark an e-mail thanking them for their very prompt reply, and asking if they were OK with me posting their e-mail in the HTF.

    I guess Ashley beat me to it.
