Digital TV breaks up or blocking (1 Viewer)

I recently moved and signed up for Digital TV Programming from Comcast. I notice that every few minutes the picture will break up and I see some blocking. Sometimes it even goes totally blank/black. Is this normal or does Comcast have to do some tweaking? I live in the Chicago area. I am using a 46" LCD TV that does 1080p.

Thanks

I would complain to Comcast. You paid for a perfect signal, and you should get it!

By all means call Comcast, but while you're waiting, double check your connections. Are you using a cable box? DVR? Going directly into the TV? Sometimes something as simple as a cheap RG-6 cable or a loose F-connector can cause exactly the symptoms you're talking about. So can being an extreme distance from the point where the cable enters the house. In that case (or if you have a lot of cable drops coming off the same attic splitter) you might need to add an amplifier along the way to boost the cable signal.

I have moved the TV and components around some but then went back and checked the coax cable to make sure I was getting a good connection on the TV and cable box. I did notice some static when I move things around but then I go back and recheck the connections. The coax cable is from the Comcast installer. I do have a splitter that goes to my cable modem since I have my internet connection through Comcast too. I will recheck my connections and if everything is ok I'll call them.

What are the make and model of the TV and cable box and how are they connected to one another? I also have a splitter (so I can run a cable directly into the TV to watch basic channels in HD when recording two others on the HD DVR) and at one point I wasn't receiving one HD channel at all. When I hand-tightened all three f-connectors on the splitter, the channel came back. ;) Of course, I have cats who like to hide behind the TV and who sometimes bump into wires, so that was my first thought. :D

Regards,

Joe
