    Okay, I'm confused.

Does a Dish network "set-top decoder" double as a tuner?

IE. Can you pull HDTV channels out of the air using some Dish network set-top decoders?

The "Dish-811" says it has a buildt in DISH Network tuner.

The word "tuner" to me means explicitly the ability to tune stations broadcast from the air. This goes above and beyond the ability to receive satellite transmissions. It would seem the ability to tune HDTV from the air would be a conflict of interests to a Dish-net sat receiver.

Not really. You only get locals in HD via OTA. All other programming would come from the satellite.
