Hi~
I have a laptop with DVD player. I have been searching on this forum and web for a USB or PCMCIA device to get a digital audio output into a receiver. They used to make PCMCIA's that did this, but they are discontinued or hard to track down.
Anyway, if I did get a digital output would I be able to get 5.1 out of it? I'm thinking that it might just be better to figure something else out because I don't want to spend a fortune...any advice would help...
Thanks...
Greg

Ok I don't know much about laptops, but you can buy a cheap sound card like the Soundblaster live value card for regular PC's with a S-PDIF output. With this output you can get 5.1 sound. I would think Creative Labs might make a laptop equivalent to this card but I am not sure.
