I am upgrading to a KENWOOD 505 DD/DTS reciever tonight. I have only had a DD ready reciever. My Sony 550D DVD player has built in DD decoding. What I want to know is, will my settings on the built in decoder(speaker volume and such) effect the digital out signal, or does the reciever do all the decoding. This is a stupid question, but I have had the same reciever for 5 years, can't wait for DTS.

I'm sure your receiver will be doing all the dd & dts processing. And yes, you are right, you will now get to experience DTS! All I can say is Saving Private Ryan in DTS!

Derek, the settings for the DVD player's Dolby Digital decoder will not affect the digital output. Thus, the receiver will do all decoding. I agree with Jeff in that Saving Private Ryan in DTS is a must-have. I also like Twister in DTS. People on the Home Theater Software can recommend other great DTS titles if you are looking for suggestions.
