I assume this is the optical cable? Replace it – it’s probably the problem.

If it is reversed that would determine if it is the optical cable or the receptacle on the back of the dvd player. If it is the dvd player and it is still under warranty then it could possible be repaired without ### involved, if not under warranty then we need a way to secure Tommy's cable.

Question, do you get any audio dropouts at all?

what do u exactly mean by audio dropouts? sry dumb ques?...i tried another digital cable {same one} from another component..its still lose? so its not the cable.

my dvd player isnt under warranty i got it a few years ago...its the dvd..cd and sacd player(dvp-nc650v sony} its known for the display to go out once and a while so i guess its got its own known problems..
