hi all, newbie here.. I'm wondering:

Does it matter which CD player I get if I'm only using the Coaxial Digital output?

Wouldn't the digital output be the same with any CD/DVD player?

If it is better, how much better could it be? I'm using my DVD player's Coaxial digital output right now.

I'll be using it with a Marantz 8200.

Right now I'm looking at the Marantz CC4000 OSE. I'm not really interested in SACD or DVD-A, just the best sound quality with good 'ol CD. Any recommendations?

    thanks in advance,

Ted, in short, the answer to you question is no. There can be a difference in the sound between players used as transports. Do a search here and on the Internet for "jitter". The Marantz CC4000OSE is a quality player, and I am sure it would serve as a good transport. However, you might want to try some other models just to be sure that you aren't missing anything.
