So I've noticed iTunes sales seem to be more a Friday thing, than a Tuesday thing lately. I have a question about Gladiator. You can only get the extended edition in 4K on disc? Only the Theatrical cut is available in 4K on digital? Bummer. I would like to own it in 4K, but I'd prefer the extended cut.

I would say Tuesday is the main day for sales with Friday being a close second sometimes. I believe that’s to compete with Vudu in which Friday is their big day.

That’s true. But FYI the 4K iTunes version on sale includes that extended cut in HD as an extra.

For Pedro Almodovar fans, a bunch of his movies are $5. I got Talk to Her.

Check your emails from FandangoNow. I got an email with a link to redeem 20% off storewide, today only (limit 5 items). I chose a couple of Movies Anywhere eligible titles: Parasite for $11.99 and a pre-order for Little Women also $11.99. Since FandangoNow doesn't collect sales tax, this is actually a better deal than using my discounted iTunes gift card cash. Plus Parasite imported into MA at 4K which it wouldn’t have done if I had bought it now at iTunes since they STILL haven’t bumped it up to 4K yet!

It must be a Washington state thing.

Depends on whether the state you live in requires it. I'm in Washington State, so sales tax is collected at iTunes, Vudu, and Amazon. FandangoNow isn't yet in compliance.

I definitely get charged sales tax at all of the digital sites, including FandangoNow, here in MN, which is not surprising ;)

Noticed the Knives Out pre-order at iTunes for $19.99 - I could have sworn it was $14.99 a few weeks ago. If I'm right, I don't think I've ever seen a pre-order price go up before...

Trust me, they do. It’s not uncommon at all for early-bird preorders to be less than the release day price.

Yes, the pre-order pricing is lower much of the time. Also, I noticed lately that fewer newer movies being discounted at $9.99, at least it's taking much longer for that discounted pricing to be offer to us. Am I the only one noticing that pricing shift?

$12.99 seems to be the norm now

The norm doesn’t mean they’re not exceptions. I’ll be paying closer attention to pricing over the next month or so to see if my perception on 9.99 recent pricing is really the new reality or not.

I’ve noticed it too. Titles used to go down to $9.99 after just a few weeks. Not so much anymore. Gotta wait longer I guess.

The best prices for digital are from individual sellers. I get them for far less than the best prices directly from Vudu or Fandango. There is a very good forum right on this sight, for instance, and many Facebook groups. For instance, I just purchased 4K version of Yesterday, Gemini Man and Spiderman FFH for between $5 and $7. Prices on Disney and Marvel titles have drastically dropped since Disney plus started and often 4K versions sell between $3 and $5 now.

It takes of bit of patience, but I save bundles this way.

I have not noticed much change in pricing, but I do not buy nearly as much digital content as you do, Robert (I'm not sure anyone does ;) ). I was waiting for IT: Chapter 2 to drop in price, and it just went under $10, which seemed pretty quick to me. I will be interested to read about your observations, though.

BTW, in case anyone didn't notice, Apple recently upgraded transfers for the Beverly Hills Cop films to 4K + Dolby Vision (at least they did for the first two, which are the only ones I own). We watched the first one this evening, and it looked very nice to me. I picked up the pair for $10 total back in early December -- a pretty good deal, IMO.
