I'm not sure if this is the correct forum to be asking this question, but here goes.

I recently upgraded to digital TV through my local cable company. While I am very satisfied with the improved picture and increased channels, it seems I am periodically having to reboot the box to update the channel guide (sometimes weekly). Is this common? I have no other problems.

Some cable boxes will only update when they are powered off. Do you power off the box when you quit watching TV or do you just power off the TV? If you do power off the box, I'd call for a replacement, because that is not common.

Question:

I notice that, with my TV's, my PQ is considerably better when having the coax cable go direct from the wall to the TV vs. any box. This is even without a splitter or any other excuse.

Is that due to poor hardware in the box?
