Will this thing actually work to split a digital audio signal to two:

Here's what I'm trying to do. I have a new HD-PVR satellite receiver that I would like to feed into two rooms. It has a component and DVI video output that appear to both remain active. It has a single optical audio output that I'm wondering if can be split to the theater and rec rooms. I have a two zone receiver but it doesn't deliver component video or digital audio to the second zone. Likewise I have an iScan HD+ but it also has single outputs.

    Other solutions?

I think that will split the DA signal, that's specifically what it says it will do.

What's running audio in the second room? A DD receiver? Would stereo/prologic be acceptible? Can you use the L/R audio output of the PVR?

We've just released the Avalon 6x2 matrix. You could then run all your component video and digital audio sources into it, and be able to route any source to either room.

It might be another option for you.
