I know since it's Sony, it's like causing an echo on a deserted island. But the other day, I watched some of the BET marathon of the show, and I noticed that the series really hit it's stride around 1980-1982, seasons 3 and 4. Is there any chance seasons 1 and 2 did well enough to merit season 3 (granted, since it's Sony, it'd be the year 3025 before another announcement) or not since I think DS is the perfect example of a show that really improved once it got off the ground and Willis and Kimberly were a little bit older and every episode didn't revolve around Arnold being precocious any longer.

Does anyone know? I notice it seems to be getting better than expecting ratings on BET, could that translate to another go-round on DVD? If anything, Janet Jackson alone could be used to sell seasons 3 and 4, her fanbase is very loyal.

When it was on Nick-at-Nite in 2001, it was getting ratings comparable to SpongeBob Squarepants and The Golden Girls reruns on Lifetime. I paged through an issue of Entertainment Weekly when I was in an airport in June of 2001 and noticed it in the top 25 cable shows.

I wish TV One had gotten it because they would be more likely to show uncut episodes.

But as for DVD, if Barney Miller can rise like Phoenix from the ashes, don't count this show out just yet. Unfortunately they had to kill every other show they released.

This show is full of childhood memories for me, even though it's older than I am. I grew up watching reruns of this show. For some unknown reasons, Kimberly was called Virginia in the French version and Willis was called Willy, the show's French title being ARNOLD & WILLY. Besides Arnold, I thought the best characters were always the maids. Mrs. Garrett, Adelaide and Pearl had the best one-liners. Also, I'm sure I'm in the minority there but I particularly liked the last couple of seasons with Maggie (although I wish Dixie Carter had stayed as I hate recasting) and Sam (Danny Cooksey was adorable). This show and PUNKY BREWSTER aired every Wednesday afternoon when I was a kid and I keep very fond memories of both.

I used to watch this show when it first aired when I was a teenager...

It doesn't cut it for me as an adult though. (And the Kimberly that I had a crush on...sheesh! What was I thinking?! She's a dog!).

Funny though...because i still love Woody Woodpecker and Bugs Bunny!
