For several years, I have had a setup in which I had NHT speakers and two subwoofers with a NHT U2 dual subs. I have two front, one center 2 mid dipoles located on the wall halfway between the front and rear speakers. 2 surround 2 surround rear. I have a Denon 5803 and I'm planning on moving to the Denon 3313 to support a new BluRay 3D with my Epson 5020 projector. I currently use component cables and am planning to move to HDMI. In the meantime, I notice in the 3313's manual, it references FWL and FWR speakers, but not mid range dipoles. It also mentions FHL and FHR speakers as well. Does the 3313 not support dipoles? Does the FWL and FWR replace the dipoles from a naming standard? Thanks, -Ted

No. Height and width(Pioneer and Yamaha have proprietary versions) are part of the new DPL IIz and Audyssey DSX. Yamaha even has "rear Presence". Look for rear "height" soon on a yet un-mamed version of DPL IIz. You could try the di-poles on height or width...I've seen pictures of people having done so...I've not heard it with anything non "directional".
