Looking at the Samsung HLS5688W vs. the HLS5687W I am hard pressed to find a real difference between them, yet there is a $750 price difference with the 688 being more.

To best compare, here is a link that does a good job. Hope the link works.

Now honestly, what is the difference between them and does it justify and extra $750?

Still battling back and forth in my mind and with my eyes on a DLP vs LCoS.

I don't see any major differences between the two models, and certainly not a $750 difference, how do they compare visually?

And between a DLP and an LCoS, hands down I would pick a Sony or JVC LCoS over the Sammy.

I know someone else can expand on this, but basically what this means is that your HDMI inputs, typically what you will use to connect your DVD or CABLE to will not be able to recieve the full resolution that the TV is capable of. Its worh the $750 to have the 1080P HDMI inputs IMO.
