Difference between 6.1 Discrete and 6.1 Matrix? (1 Viewer)

What are the differences and which setting is best? I have a 7.1 setup and I'm running a Denon 2803.

I believe a 6.1 matrix means it is actually encoded over 5.1 channels, and the sixth channel is "matrixed" or created through your receiver. A discrete track actually was made with six tracks.

It's not a setting that you pick, it is dependent upon the soundtrack.
