and I only had to throw away two bowls because of unidentifiable growths. Both bowls were victims of Rotel cheese dip. Not bad if I say so myself. I have had much worse months.

I wait until I'm out of dishes then I start washing. I admit it, I'm a slob.
which reminds me I need to vacuum.. can't say I've vacuumed this place since I moved in [IMG]

I usually let the dishes pile up until:
    A) I reach the eternal debate and decide if I want to wash a plate or eat my spaghetti out of a plastic cup.
    B) The dishes start moving around on their own and make strange noises in the night.
    Whichever happens first. [IMG]

I hate to ask this but do you have a dog or cat? You wouldn't want their droppings festering about for a month.

the real pisser is no garbage disposal... so I either let the food rot on the plates, or scrape it into the trash to fester with the rest of who knows what.

I prefer the second, because you get a nice mixture of stench

Rotel cheese dip is probably nice and smooth. I'd be slightly concerned that its a touch too warm though - this can only be a problem for cheeses, unless you're planning on making a fondue!

Oh, and you're now up to three Costello fans on just this thread...

I usually wash up at the end of the day and let them dry themselves. We have a dishwasher in our apartment but I never seem to use it.
Oh and I also have a fridge downstairs that was turned off and the door wasnt opened so its full of mold, everytime I open it, its much much worse. I just can't bring myself to clean it up [IMG]

If I don't do the dishes in my household, the dishes do not get done.

    [rant]Period.[/rant]

I live with two roomates, two guys who are in their late 20's (like me). They have absolutely no sense of neatness, order, and apparently, smell.

I lived with a woman previously, and now I understand the general understanding that guys are slobs. If my roomates are any indication of the 'typical guy' (hockey, beer, muscle cars, beer, sarcasm)... then no wonder.

I use the dishwasher after parties, but I generally like to do the dishes by hand because it's one of the few ZEN moments I relish after a hard day's work.

Well, Andy, there are only two people in the house, but you'd be surprised at how many dishes we can go through in a night. A dishwasher would be ideal in your situation, because I'm sure you'd rather spend time with your children rather than your dishes. But the reason why I wish dishes by hand can be summed up by Joseph's post:
