Hi all,
I did a search on this which came up empty. Every NYC local station is now transmitting in HDTV. I'm very surprised to not see this mentioned anywhere on this board. I'm in Union County and the only station I'm having a bit of trouble with is WABCTV-HD due to my antenna's location.

FYI.

CBS
NBC
ABC
Fox
UPN (off of 5-2)
WPIX-11 (is this the PAX station you mean?)
NET

CBS is transmitting off of the Empire State Building. I think the others are transmitting from a lower altitude.

Mike, what channels are you using for NBC & WPIX? I can get ABC pretty good on 45-1, but I can't get the others. I get somethign on 28-1, but it goes from 0 to 11% and back. No picture.

Thanks for the heads up! All indications were that there would be no additonal HD channels until next year, so I gave up searching. MNF in hi-def tonight!

Wow. I'm surprised that nobody even knew about this. It's been all over AVS for over a month.

Apparently, transmissions started on or about November 5th. The last time I did a sweep was Oct. 31st. I did my monthly scan of the usual places on the net to see if there was any news to find out that everything was RUNNING! I was watching Monday Night Football tonight in HDTV! My wife was watching ER last Thursday in HD.

I don't know the channel numbers I'm using. I have a Hughes receiver and although I can determine them by going into the setup, the TV's in use now upstairs so I can't check. I did have to realign my antenna. ABC-DT was coming in with almost 0 the first time I tried, so I went in the attic, moved the antenna about 15 degrees, and the signal went up to 75%. I can't seem to get any more than that without putting the antenna on the roof (in the winter...bleh).

If you have Cablevision upstate it's no surprise. Cablevision still has not given us ANY HDTV stations despite promises that it would be "soon" for the past THREE years. If only I didn't live in a hollow surrounded by trees I would install a dish or an arial.

For those of us who live in Manhattan and are slaves to Time Warner Cable, little has changed. We still get ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox, but we do not get UPN or WB in HD. We do get WNET, which frequently doesn't broadcast the same programming as the SD channel, and we can now get the Discovery channel in HD (the only thing that's been added this year).

Reception quality is still erratic on all of them. I almost never watch HD except for the occasional HBO broadcast.

A certain ouija board told me there are plans to change that. The ouija board also told me TWC would like to offer these channels but there are issues with entities other than TWC but negotiations continue. As for the erratic quality the ouija board also says that new Cisco equipment is coming and NYC will be the testbed for it.

The ouija board also asks for your patience as there is a lot going on at TWC of NYC and it will result in cutting-edge services but please keep in mind it's as new to TWC (and the cable industry as a whole) as it is to you.

The ouija board cannot say more without getting in trouble.. :D
