As we already know, the fox dvd of Diary is missing exit music for act One and Intermission music - sad, because this is great scoring by Alfred Newman, who, BTW was nominated for best score for this film, part of this nominated score is now missing.
Just bought this dvd yesterday and found a strange error.
On a couple of big fox roadshow films, they play a pre screen overture that plays right into the fox logo.
i.e. - the fox logo does NOT have the fox fanfare, but the logo starts during the last measures of the pre screen Overture, You can see this in Cleopatra and the Sand Pebbles. I think this is the case for the musical Doctor Dolittle, but I don't have it to hand to check. This is true of Anne Frank. This is the way it was on the old laser.
On the dvd, the overture ends. The the fox logo appears (with no sound over it) and then the music for the Main Title starts! Not good. All of the things that are wrong here were correct on the laser. Why couldn't they get it right here?

Maybe this was just one of those unintentional oversights? Perhaps Fox is unaware of this. Have you sent them an e-mail...

Who would one email at fox about this. they won't fix it and its a real shame about the mussing music too.
Star has missing intermission and exit music.
Bought Happiest Millionaire today (new version) and it has the opening Disney buean vista logo BEFORE the prescreen overture. At least Anchor Bay got that right.

They fixed CLEO which was a big prestige product. But they did nothing about fixing STAR which beside missing two pieces of music, is also missing a few of the opening notes of the beginning of act two.

I believe it was at George Stevens Jr.'s request that the intermission and entr'acte be eliminated from the Diary Of Anne Frank as George Stevens Sr. never wanted an intermission for DOAF but Fox insisted on giving it the prestigious Roadshow treatment. Stevens didn't want to shoot the film in CinemaScope either but again, Fox insisted.

There are memos form Stevens sr. at USC where he is upset that Fox cuts the film for second release, but he also asks them to leave aan intermision, even in the short version as he thinks the audience needs that break.
Also, this still does not explain FOX DVD screwing up the opening of the film. If you can, check the old laser and then look at the new dvd and it's easy to see the difference. After the overture, the fox logo appears with no sound.
