I wonder if there will be a ship?
Done properly(I mean R and not PG-13) it would probably be worth checking out.

Omigod! Baz and Leo again? In a magnificent epic?! I am so SO there!
This is really going to piss off the people who hate Moulin Rouge AND Leonardo Di Caprio! If they're homophobes too, maybe their heads will explode in a spectacular fashion! [IMG] [IMG]
I want to see it, NOW! I want this to open, NOW!
Geez I hate waiting for movies.

To anyone who seriously gets upset by this collaboration, even if you didn't care for what they've done in the past, this is a whole new film, a whole new experience.

Nothing to really be upset about yet IMO.

I just have a hard time picturing Leo "The Noodle" DiCaprio as Alexander the Great.

Whats this? Di Caprio as Alexander The Great [winces], Baz 'Moulin Rouge' Luhrmann directing [gaah!], can't imagine anything worse [sobs].
And I assume its a musical with Di Caprio and probably Claire Danes [eek!] singing ballads on some lavish Greek sets with half-naked muscular young men prancing around the stage, ok ok worse case scenario.
D'oh! I see Dino 'Flash Gordon' De Laurentis producing, ookkaay than.[IMG]
Oh but I so wanted Ridley Scott to make his blood drenched 3-hour version with Keanu Reeves as Alexander and the yummy Estella Warren as his girlfriend.

Well, I'm thrilled that Dino De Laurentis seems to have gotten this crazy Alexander thing under control. With the financing already there, arangements with Morocco in place, and Scorsese on board, it sounds like smooth sailing for this production (unless Leo takes to the Morocco nightlife too much. [IMG] That's what a major project like this needs, a solid point of focus right off the bat. Dino gives you the power for that, and I really think Baz is a director who has a good focus on his vision of the style/tone/themes of his films from right off the bat.
That's good, because when you are dropping $100m you want to make sure you are spending it as efficiently as possible.
I look for this project to take Baz in another direction, and I have no doubts that Leo's acting is up for it.

IMO, Leo was that great in his Oscar nominated performance in What's Eating Gilbert Grape?
Didn't see The Beach, he was OK in MITIM, and was very good in Titanic![IMG]
BTW, Who wants to bet that this thread turns into a Leo bashfest?[IMG]

Nothing wrong with Leo. Hell, he could buff up a little bit and pull off something like Joaquin Phoenix's Commodus in Gladiator. (I thought he was awesome in that role) But I have nothing but complete and utter contempt for Luhrman. I wouldn't do so far as to call him a Hack, simply because the only director to deserve that title is Micheal Bay, but if there was a runner-up....

I can see this movie right now. Alexander and his guards all have glitter make-up and feathers. Because we all know feathers are envelope pushing...

Can anyone straighten this out for me? Now if I'm not mistaken there are two Alexander the Great movies on the way, right? And then there are two Hannibal movies on the way? And there is a Gates of Fire movie on the way? Am I missing any or adding any that shouldn't be there? Don't get me wrong, I love these kind of movies, so I'm glad there are a few in the works, I'm just trying to get it straightened out. :b
