Universal Studios Home Video will release The Chronicles of Riddick on November 16th

The sequel to the surprisingly great Pitch Black arrives in separate R-Rated and Unrated Director's Cut editions.

The "R" version will be available in anamorphic widescreen (2.40) and fullscreen editions, each with Dolby Digital 5.1 audio options. The Director's Cut, clocking in with seven additional minutes of footage, will be available in 2.40 anamorphic only. Extras have yet to be announced. Retail is $29.98 for each version.

Are these both new cuts of the film since it was released as pg 13? Or is this a misprint?

Awesome! I enjoyed the movie at the theaters but you could actually see that most of the action scenes had been edited to hell. Can't wait for this one.

Sometimes it seems like I'm the only one ... but I cannot wait for this movie! I'm especially excited about the director's cut ... 7 minutes can really seem like a lot sometimes ... Pitch Black's director's cut only had about an extra minute but it made a lot of difference I thought.

Count me as really looking forward to this release. I caught it at the theater, and thought it was a solid, fun space opera. The film had great visual style (spare me the whining about "obvious CGI") and a fascinating antihero in Riddick.

Hopefully the unrated director's cut will help rectify what I thought was the film's biggest mis-step: towing that PG-13 line.

I was kind of disappointed with this at theaters; I really liked Pitch Black, but I thought this one tried too hard to be an epic. However, I'll probably rent the director's cut and give it another chance.

I hope there is a decent amount of r rated material within the 7 minutes. They alluded to a lot of gruesome stuff with the necromongers, kind of like Hellraiser light.
