Dang, lousy movie = No Sale!
IMHO of course.;)
It was almost painful to sit through, which is a shame, Myers is highly talented....

I'm gonna buy this one!

Haven't talked to one person that liked this film.

My curiosity level is so strong on this one
that I"ll buy it just to see how bad it is.

I had the displeasure of seeing this movie and the pleasure of walking out while it was playing. One of the worst films in recent history and it was so blatantly made for profit, see the good ones hide that fact :D.

And that cover art, like the poster, can still scare small children.

I won't tarnish my memory of the book, nor my son's perception of it as I read it to him by allowing this DVD in the house. :)

The books are too good to spoil.

Good choice.
This is very anti-Seuss.
Although, I did like the Grinch with Carrey....

Rick, I'm with you. Have you seen the TV special from 1971 that Universal issued on DVD last year? I would definitely recommend it over the new film, as it stays truer to the source.

Sure that this is not a general Making of featurette. This DVD should come with its own barf bag. Horrible, horrible film.

Ron - Please don't buy it. Rent it, Netflix it, hell, steal it if you have to, but please don't put any money in the hands of the people who made this abhomination. Every dollar they make from this title is simply more encouragement for them to pervert Dr Suess even more.

And there are so many good DVDs out there that should be supported before this one.

Too late, Matthew. Since it did reasonably well at the box office the sequel is in the works. They had one planned if it did well enough at the BO before it was released.

Buy the book instead for your own child or donate it a local children's charity or give it to a niece or nephew. Don't give Imagine Entertainment or Unviversal any more money on this one.

Hell, buy it for yourself. My flatmate is a big fan of Dr Suess, and going back and re-reading them, I realise that he really was quite brilliant. You can still get a lot of enjoyment from the book - and a lot more than you would get from the film.

Ron: The letters "C" and "G" are too far apart in the alphabet! Don't do it.

Your copy of Cat in the Hat will be too far away from Gigli on your bookshelf and think about all the really good films which would be caught in-between.

Don't do it Ron! Remember there are "good" bad movies and "bad" bad movies; Cat in the Hat fits in the latter category. As I said before, watch the TV special instead; Universal has gone to the trouble of releasing it on DVD, and it is far superior.
