After covering a golf tournament in Los Angeles, sportswriter Mike Hagen returns to his New York home with a tan. And with a fashion-designer wife he scarcely knows.

Romantic pitfalls surface gleefully in this Vincente Minnelli-directed comedy featuring an Oscar®-winning* script and Manhattanites – an ex-flame (Dolores Gray), low-life hustlers(Chuck Connors, Jesse White) and an addled palooka (Mickey Shaughnessy) among them – who rub elbows and funny bones. Lauren Bacall plays the stylish title character. As Hagen, Gregory Peck gamely displays his comedic flair, pratfalling into a chair, slyly mimicking Bacall and coping with indignity as ravioli is served…in his lap.

Be patient, Rick. It's just a matter of time before those other good looking DVDs that Warners has like The Prodigal, Rome Adventure, Mame, Legend Of Lylah Clare, Any Wednesday, Harum Scarum, Queen Of Outer Space, Palm Springs Weekend and Story Of Mankind get released. Warners can't release them all at once.

Really a great choice. Designing Woman is one of the A list movies I dreamed WB would get around to. Hope they do more quality classics like this in the future. : ) !

Really want to see how those transitions and trims are handled because from the old DVD DW for sure needed some care to transition to Blu-Ray.

The Jim Wynorski remake featuring Kelli Maroney in the title role is due out this summer. Might bode well for a Blu release of the original.
