The other day I was cleaning off my speakers (B&W 601's)...when I took off the faceplate, I noticed that the Tweeter dome on one of the speakers had "caved in". After testing both speakers (the other one was fine), I could not detect a difference in sound. Does anyone know if the sound quality is lessened by this? I would assume it is, but cannot tell by listening. I played several types of music and movies to try and discern.
    Thanks!

I guess theoretically it could affect imaging, but I doubt you’ll actually notice a difference.

There are various methods you can use to try to pull it out – a piece of tape (masking first, duct as last resort), vacuum cleaner nozzle for starters.

Stick the masking tape to something else first, to make it a little less sticky, then it should pop the dome right out. As long as there is no crease, it should be perfectly fine.

I would by a new tweeter dome and have it installed at the dealer.

Great info. I just noticed the same thing with one of my tweeters (and I couldn't discern any decrease or difference in sound quality, either) a couple of weeks ago.

I will try the masking tape and vacuum thing. Thanks.

So what exactly causes this? I've run across it once and just gently massaged it out.
