i just bought a denon 2803 for my home theater. Salesman says it will power a second zone as well without the need of any other equipment. I can't make anything come out of the zone two speakers. do i need a separate amp or something. I don't know what is wrong.

The zone 2 will only output a source that is hooked up with analog cables,in other words your cd player would need to have analog(stereo pair)cables instead or in addition to digital cable.

i'll try that but i am still skeptical. the thing that worries me is that when i went through the owner's manual it gives you the steps to set up zone 2. well when i switch the rear surrounds to zone two, the zone two volume control disapears on the on screen setup. I figured that this happened because it could not find any speakers because i needed an amplifier.
