Denon receiver models (1 Viewer)

Hey everyone. I'm in the market for a new AV receiver and have narrowed my search to a few specific brands, Denon being one. In looking around on the web, I see the AVR-983, which, as I have read here, is the same as the 2803. Why the different numbers for the same model, or, are they in fact the same. Their specs and features seem indentical. What gives?
