I am an avid Denon user; nothing else, period. However, in this case I wonder if it isn't a bit of reverse marketing; Denon's price point is not 'average' anyways, and never has been. It's among the best out there, and the price reflects that. I suspect, rather, that Denon, appealing as it does to more serious audio and video philes, simply recognized that it couldn't compete in the entry level market.

I agree with Peter. To me, entry level means under $200.00 and Denon never had a hi-rez capable machine for under that price. It was always Sony, Pioneer, Toshiba, Panasonic, etc... battling it out in that price sector. And Denon is hardly J6P mainstream....on the other hand, Onkyo now appears at Radio Shack.
