Denon dvd 555s (1 Viewer)

Can someone give me some information about the Denon DVD 555s and the 755s. I do not see the models on Denon's web site. Are these discontinued models? Would any of you buy these?

The info pertaining to these models can be found here on Denon's US website. In short, the 555S is the silver version of the 1710, and the 755S the 1910. The 955S and the 2910 are identical models.

Apparently the three digit model number units are "Sears Electronics" models. They are identical units to the four digit series products, just in silver colour rather than black.

The new DVD players are great. I think I'm picking up a DVD-2910 or a DVD-3910 and use the HDMI out to my projector...once seeing HDMI - there is no going back to component video!

Sure there is, if you have a CRT based FP or RP display. HDMI and DVI work very well for digital displays, particularly at their native resolutions, but really don't offer much (if any) benefit for analog CRT displays. And properly calibrated CRT still rules for picture quality.

Hmmm, interesting. I wasn't aware that Sears carried Denon DVD players (I couldn't find any mention of them on their website). I'd love to get a 955S, if Sears does indeed stock this model.

I too checked Sears website and the local stores and I have not been able to find any. Are there other places to look?

Any dealer that sells the black models should be able to order the silver ones.

True, and some dealers will even extend discount pricing on special order items. Of the three authorized DENON dealers in my area, one of them has stated that they will price match Crutchfield.com's price on the 1910 (for the 755S).
