Ive been looking at both units.Ive only heard the 3300 which sounds great. My use would be mainly as dvd-audio player. The specs at the Denon site on these two units look pretty similar to me.(Im a newbe at this).Since the 3300 will probably drop in price(close out), is the 3800 new dvd-audio features different or better

Mark, since the '3800 isn't out yet, I'm not sure anyone is in position to comment on how it will compare to the '3300 in terms of DVD-Audio playback. I don't recall if the '3800 will offer bass management for DVD-Audio. It should based on the retail price and the fact that the Denon DVM-4800 DVD-Audio changer that has been out for awhile does. If the '3800 offers bass management, you might qualify that as a major difference between the two players. If possible, I would wait to see what the '3800 will offer in the audio department. It will retail for more than the '3300, but the difference in price could be explained primarily by differences in the video section. While the '3300 is an interlaced player, the '3800 will be a progressive-scan unit that is supposed to offer state-of-the-art technology in that department.

The DVD-3800 has digital bass management (80 Hz, with a real crossover, unlike the DVM-4800) and time alignment ( 0-15 ms).

Craig, when you say "digital bass management", I assume you mean the application of bass management in the digital domain before processing through the DACs and 5.1-channel outputs. To my knowledge, the '3800 will not include a proprietary digital output for DVD-Audio. Only the '9000 will.

Also, are you saying that the '3800 will have a fixed crossover at 80 Hz? It would be nice if that were adjustable.
