GoodGuys now has the Denon DVD-2900 for $999.99, with free shipping and no sales tax. Use coupon code: SUNSHINE for 10% off a $199+ purchase (excludes Bose, Yamaha, TiVo, Replay TV, and GE-Zurich items. Offer cannot be combined with other promotional offers, including specials, instant rebates, price match request, or items in Clearance Store. This is an exclusive online offer and is not valid at Good Guys retail stores, unknown expiration date, may expire at any time) to bring the price down to $900 shipped. This is the cheapest place to grab one of these new SIL504 based universal players (plays DVD-A and SACD) that`s authorized by Denon, who is voiding warranties for purchases not made at factory authorized locations. To find it, search for: DVD-2900. Click here for the link.

Parker, last time I checked, Good Guys did not ship nationally. Good Guys only has stores in the Western US, and when I have been to their web site, it has said that they would only ship within their region. Has this changed?

It also says "April Savings" on the link, so it may have expired...you'd want to double-check on that too.

Parker (and others),

I just went to the site (Goodguys.com) and placed an order. It went smoothly and automatically deducted the $99 without any codes so I have a 2900 being shipped to NY for a total of $900.

Thanks for the information and coming up with this purchase option.

RAF:

Glad to hear that they are 1) shipping outside of the west coast and 2) that the coupon code is still working even into May.

Now I just need to come up with an extra $900 and.....

How about a review of this player on your new Runco and with the 950 Outlaw.

Also as stated in the first post from Good Guys site:

* Sale excludes Bose, Yamaha, TiVo, Replay TV, and GE-Zurich items. Offer cannot be combined with other promotional offers, including specials, instant rebates, price match request, or items in Clearance Store. This is an exclusive online offer and is not valid at Good Guys retail stores. Free shipping is for ground service.
So it looks like since this is an online only offer that maybe some of the things that normally apply don't with this particular offer.

FYI,
For those who live near a Tweeter they have been selling them for $899. I am a Teeter AVID member so i got mine for an additional 5% off. I got it for $849 + Tax. It might be worth checking out.

How about a review of this player on your new Runco and with the 950 Outlaw?
I'd be willing to do this except for a couple of things.
  • My Runco CL710c hasn't arrived yet (any month now)
  • My Denon 2900 isn't here either.
But for those two minor items, I'm ready to roll.

Seriously, as soon as the 2900 arrives I'll hook it up to the Outlaw 950. As you know I currently use a SONY 9000 for 2 channel SACD and a Panasonic RP-91 for DVD-Audio. The only thing missing from the equation has been Multichannel SACD and once added I would have to deal with a single 5.1 analog input source on the Outlaw 950.

It appears on paper as though the Denon 2900 will solve this issue since it's a universal player (with some other goodies thrown in such as MP3, other playback sources, the Silicon Chip, etc. etc.) And I'm intrigued with the Bass Management possibilities with the 2900 as well. While the Outlaw 950 offers BM it will be interesting to see how the 2900 thrown into the mix adds flexibility for me. The only way to tell is to use it.

I'm going to send one of my two current DVD players (probably the SONY 9000) up to the "secondary" RAF HT (read-"bedroom)" since I still like the auto (sometimes) scaling feature of the RP-91 on the BIG screen. I still hate the fact that the RP-91 doesn't show time elapsed on DVDs but I can live with that since it becomes the lesser used of the two units once the 2900 arrives.

Also, the SONY 9000 added to the bedroom gives me a kick-A CD and SACD (2 channel) source. I've recently upgraded my 2nd system to use my trusty old DENON 5700, purchased an Energy Take 5.2 system with SW and am ready to go with 5.1 surround sound upstairs as well. My current bedroom player, the venerable SONY 7000, becomes Unit #2 when the 9000 goes upstairs. Besides, as you may recall, the 7000 didn't do DTS so the 9000 is a logical choice for that. (And it further justifies my purchase of yet another DVD player - as if I need justification!)

Whatever.

Here we go again!

Now I'm almost rooting for my 27" 12 year old XBR monitor to crap out so I can get a flat screen HDTV capable monitor for HT#2. If I time things right this won't happen until the DISH network introduces their HD capable Model 921 PVR.

So many toys, so little time.

They do ship nationwide, and have decided to continue that coupon code past the april expiration date. I'm going to try to get a more definitive date from them, but they may not have one yet.

I got mine for $899 from the Home Theater Store here in Texas. I have a friend that works at tweeter and it appears they get it for $815 as their friends and family price, so you might try to work between $849 and $899...

I can't wait to demo one of these units when they show up on Long Island.
It seems to be the first perfect solution to the SACD/DVDA problem of utilizing 2 units on 1 Reciever.

Denon is quality.

Hope to read some reviews soon!

It's good to know that Good Guys is now shipping nationally. I'm looking forward to reading some reviews of the '2900.

After talking with the guys at Goodguys.com they stated that they ship nationally and they aren't sure how long the 10% off will continue so if you are interested in getting one from an authorized dealer now is the time.

BTW, I would appreciate it if any other deals regarding this player that can be picked up elsewhere for less or whatever be started up in another thread and left out of this one.

FYI, Stacey and the other Shootout guys have a 2900 they're reviewing right now, so you should see a review on HomeTheaterHifi soon.

Based on the discounts I've seen for the 3803 and other Denon gear, I'd expect the price to drop even more, ... in a little while.

I ordered a Denon 1803 from Goodguys when they first came out last fall, so they've at least been shipping stuff since then.

Got my 2900 the other day and so far so good! Haven't played with it much yet, but the picture seems to be great. I will write more after calibration, bass management, etc.
Parker, where in Missouri are you? Send me an email and we can talk about getting you a deal.
