I just bought a denon dvd-1910 and I have noticed that sometimes the blacks almost look purple. I dont know if thats a very good description or not but im not sure how to explain it. I noticed this in some of the night time scenes in national treasure. I've tried 1080i,720p,and 480p over dvi and havent noticed much difference. I dont have an avia calibration disc, but is there something I can do to fix the problem?

yes there is something (perhaps)

First you need an AVIA or DVE disc, or at least a THX Optimizer disc (on Toy Story etc).

On the low end Denon player that is also a 'setting' button that has a black setting. Make sure it is on, otherwise the black level will be way high

If it continues, it would be interesting to see if going to component video solves the issue.
