Saw this in the Crutchfield Magazine, but did not see on their website or Denon's. Has anybody else seen, heard,or own this? How is it? Any reviews or comments anywhere.

The DVD-1600 IS a nw model. It will be an entry-lvel model with DVD-audio support. They have also released an even cheaper model, the DVD-800 which is very simple.

the stuff in Crutchfeild is a specific series made by denon specifically for the "cheap" market. They take their regular models (usually discontinuied) and dump them on bulk buyers like crutchfeild. I honestly wouldnt bother. If quality is your goal, go for a more recent model.
What are you talking about? Crutchfield does not get merchandise specifically made for them for "the "cheap" market". You are absolutely incorrect. Crutchfield is an authorized dealer and sells first-rate merchandise that other authorized dealers sell. Any Denon product that Crutchfield sells you will find at Tweeter and other authorized Denon dealers. Crutchfield sells the Denon AVR-5800. Do you think this is made for the cheap market? No, this is the same '5800 that any other Denon dealer sells.
It is possible that Denon originally planned on producing the DVD-1600, but decided not to for one reason or another. Crutchfield probably received word about the '1600 from Denon, complete with specs., a price, and a picture. Everything they need to promote it in their catalog. Crutchfield may have even placed an order for the player through Denon. These catalogs go to print far in advance. It is possible that Denon cancelled production of the '1600 in the interim. Note that Crutchfield also has the Panasonic DVD-RP61 in this catalog, and that was cancelled.
Anyway, to say that Crutchfield gets lesser merchandise is ludicrous.
