Hi, I'm new on the forum and would like some help in deciding between Denon DCM-370 and DCM-270 5 CD changers. After reviewing the specs, I noticed the 270 lacks HDCD, and digital out for using an outboard DAC. I don't ever intend to hook up an external DAC.

As far as I can tell, both of these players have the same Burr-Brown DACs, is that correct?

However, I am curious about HDCD, do all CDs sound better with a player that has HDCD or only specially encoded CDs? 95% of the listening in our house is Indian music and none of has any special coding.

If someone knows of any other differences, I would appreciate the help. Also can someone confirm that these player are compatible with CD-Rs?

    Thank You,

Those are both discontinued. They were replaced by the DCM-280/380 about 5 months ago. The new machines have MP3, and both have digital outs. The differences are subtle, but the 370/380 always sounded better to me than the 270/280.

    They all play CD-R
