Is ti best to use the Denon channel leveling on the receiver or use a program such as Avia or THX Optimizer? What is the best way to get speakers leveled correctly with my receiver? I have the Denon 4802 by the way.

The conventional wisdom is that the built-in channel leveler is a good start, but a disc like Avia is better.

A cheaper alternative than Avia would be Sound & Vision Home Theater Tune-up. It's made by Ovation which also makes Avia.

    hi,
don't forget an SPL meter from Radio Shack. it will help balance all your sound to the sweetspot in your room.
