I am looking for an AV receiver for a gift to my dad and have narrowed the choice to the Denon AVR1603 and Yamaha RXV530. (He does not care for 5.1 or 6.1)

I cannot listen to these units side by side with the same speaker setup. I am planning to get the Wharfedale Diamond 8 series, found the music acceptable. These three items are carried by different stores here in the Philippines.

Anybody has any comment on using the Diamond 8 series and the Denon AVR1603 or Yamaha RXV530?

If your father does not care about using 5.1 or 6.1, then why not look into one of the stereo receivers from Denon?? The DRA-685 has 100 watts x 2. The DRA-395 features 80 watts x 2 and the DRA-295 features 50 watts x 2. It doesn't seem valid to buy a 5 channel or 6 channel receiver ... only to let 3 or 4 channels sit idle.

Sorry, did not proofread my post.

What I meant is he does not really care if the receiver is 5.1 or 6.1.
