I’ve been looking for a Denon 760 for about two months, shortly after I saw the release announcement. And even now, they’re not available from BestBuy, Value Electronics, Amazon or CostCo. I didn’t want to pay full retail from Denon — if I’m paying full price, I’d rather get from a retailer I routinely use.

But I just learned (belatedly) that Denon has refurb units at a solid discount. After checking one last time that my normal retailers have none — not even listed as a product that exists - I ordered refurb from Denon.

I’m looking forward to hooking it up. This will make my living room 4K capable, assuming eARC works from TV to AVR, and the Sony TV’s internal streaming apps are good enough to use.

If not, I’ll have to buy another AppleTV 4K to complete the setup there.

I don't use EArc with my 750. The WiFi music streaming works great though. I mostly stream Apple music from my phone and Amazon Prime music.

Unless they stop manufacturing this model, you can go to bhphotovideo.com or Adorama.com to ask them to send you a notification when they get the new model in stock. Sometimes, they will recommend you an alternate option if the product is discontinued.

My 760 arrived this morning! The box is so light I had a little worried I'd been scammed and the box was empty. But there's a receiver in it. Guess I know what I'm doing today.

Denon refurbs are what, 25% off?
This was $400 for the $550 MSRP. So about 27% off.

1 year warranty for refurb vs 2 year for new.
No original box, no paper manual.

Arrived a week after ordering. Not available anywhere else (VE, BB, AMZ, CC)

Great buying value for me.

New receiver is like 15 lbs compared to 30 lb of decade old Onkyo 707 it’s replacing. Amazing how much lighter it is.

I guess this is the Class D amps?

Could be. The biggest weight difference is most likely a (maybe) switching power supply vs. a transformer. That could easily knock off 10 lbs or more. So, it could be Class H, which is A/B output with a switching supply. Plus, just more integrated circuits. I bet there's almost nothing in it.

Now if I could only get eARC to work. I bought a new HDMI cable, but that didn’t fix it. I can’t get any audio from my Sony 950H to the Denon 760.

I couldn’t believe the weight difference when I replaced my 20 year old Yamaha with a Denon 750. I expected the box to be heavy and almost threw it when I picked it up.

Even though this receiver has been for sale for a couple of months, Denon still doesn’t have it in their Product Registration, so you can’t go online to register a new 760 yet!

I contacted Support about this. They explained the above and said they manuall registered my Denon for me. :)
