I've saved up enough cash to get a surround sound system. I can spend up to $650 for a receiver and speakers, not including a sub. I've decided on the JBL NSP1's because they are so highly recommended. I can get them for $270 at etronics.com . So now I need to decide on a receiver. I'm thinking about either:
    Denon AVR-682:

    or Kenwood VR 507:

I'm leaning more toward the Denon. Can anyone give me any comparisons or any other suggestions? I want to order it soon, but not make a hasty decision either. Oh, and when I get the money, I'm getting the Sony SA-WM40 sub.

And I think the Denon 682 is basically the 1602 model. Can anyone clear that up?

    Yes David,

The 682 is the 1602, and the 882 is the 1802. I would seriously recommend that you lean towards the 1802, as some online dealers offer it for as low as $30.00 more than the 1602. You will get more power (80wpc) and pre-amp outs if you ever require more power. I personally own an 1802 which has nice clean sound, but if you go with the 1602, this should do nicely as well.

    David,

Do a search on this forum for the JBL NSP1 set. There is a thread about these being on sale at Buy.com for $229 delivered. Buy.com sold so many that they were backordered, but I think they got them in and are starting to ship. Some people have had luck going to JandR.com and having them price match and others have had JandR only lower their price to $250 delivered. Either way, I think you can save yourself some cah by checking out those options.

    Good Luck.
