Denon AVR-3805 & DVD-3910 (1 Viewer)

I have come into the possession of a Denon AVR-3805 and a DVD -3910 and have connected both units via Denon Link (just the one cable needed I'm led to believe). I have set-up both units to D-Link in their dedicated menus but can not get any sound from the receiver when playing a CD, from either headphones or speakers. Is there a trick I am missing? Any assistance would be greater appreciated.

I don't know why that would happen, unless you're changing the input on the receiver to CD when you play a CD. It should be the same input as for DVDs.
