many thanks for the replies to my post on the 3801. Now I've been told about the 3802, how does it differ from the 3801 and what is the price difference?

    Differences vs. 3801:
    1. Dolby Pro Logic II decoding with Cinema and Music Modes
    2. more wattage 110W vs 105W
    3. Adjustable High and Low Pass Crossover(80,100,120Hz)
    Comments:
    1. DPL2 is quite nice, but the 3801 now costs less and already has DTS-NEO. Then again, I find the "simple" Matrix mode to sound better than both NEO and DPL2 with stereo and dolby 2.0 sources.
    2. 5 Watts of extra power is definitely not noticable.
    3. Crossover is pretty useless, unless you use BOSE (or similar) speakers.

Does the Denon 3802 have Dimension, Center Width, and Panorama adjustments for the Dolby Pro Logic II Music Mode? The Onkyo 989 has these adjustments, but the Onkyo 494, 595, and 696 do not.
The Denon probably doesn't, otherwise someone would have mentioned it by now. I guess they want to keep things simple in the low and mid-priced receivers.

Yes, it does have all three DPLII adjustments in Music mode.
Also, the DPLII is far superior to the DTS Neo 6. I can tell a difference and have read many reviews that conclude the same.

    Thanks Brian!
wow, that's great to hear. I might be buying a Denon 3802 soon.
I had an Integra 6.2 for a while, and wished it had the adjustments.... especially the center width.
