Denon AVR 2803 Speaker Problem (1 Viewer)

A Friend of mine recently accuired a Denon AVR-2803. According to the Manual you can set up additional speakers. In this way you should be able to listen to 2 different Sources in 2 different rooms using the 2803. however, this function does not seem to work. In addition when using the jacks for the seperate audio (i.e. outdoor Speakers) they are alway on.
Any and all help would be appreciated.

2 things
1. make sure you have the multi-room function turned on and have the multi-room volume turned up.

2. You cannot use optical cable for Multi-room function. only Analog cable (RCA) will work
