Denon AVR-1804 won't stay on, please help (1 Viewer)

Guys,

I hooked up my new AVR-1804 today and it will only play a cd or the radio for maybe a second before it turns itself off and then the standby light flashes. It did this when I tried the tone test as well. Is my receiver a dud? What could I be doing wrong with it. Please help me out. I am using the jbl northridge speakers all around and have a jbl 10 inch sub.

Shervin, you might have a blown fuse. Check that first. Also, check all your speaker connections -- are any of the leads from the wires in back of the receiver touching each other? If so, you may have shorted out the circuit.

I'm w/Jack. Really does sound like you have a direct short. Remove ALL the speaker connections, retwist all the wires to ensure you don't have any stray strands.

If it still goes into protect/shutdown mode after that, you have a bum receiver. :frowning: Good luck.
