So, people have suggested the denon 910 and mitsubishi 8040 as good budget players. My local Ultimate Electronics has the Denon 900 on sale for 199.99.

As best I can tell from Denons webpage, the 900 does not play DVD-A, but is identical to the 910 in all other respects?

Any input on the 900 would be wonderful. And, am I missing any differences between the 900 and 910.

    thanks

199.99 seems like a great price [IMG]

From what I have read, the 910 fixes a great many things that were wrong with the 900. There's a review of the 910 (maybe also the 900) on hometheaterhifi.com that goes into some of the differences/improvements. I've seen the 910 on the web for $229.

The Denon DVD-900 was rated low because it has a very soft picture with poor high frequency response. The better rated players like the Denon DVD-1600 have a sharp picture with perfect flat frequency response. The DVD-910 has a sharper picture than the 900, but not as sharp as the 1600. I would say avoid the DVD-900 model at any price!
