I had pretty much decided to get the AVR-4306 from Denon when just today I saw they will come out with a new "CI" line in their entry level models. Does anyone know if this means the mid level models such as the 4306 will also be upgraded in the near future? After reading the review here on the 4306 I was sure that's what I wanted, but if there are going to be upgrades specifically for HD-DVD or BluRay on the 4306, I would probably wait it out. Anyone know anything about this? Thanks!!

There will always be a new receiver with more features "coming out soon."

That said, let me contradict myself... I personally wouldn't buy a new receiver or DVD player until the HD DVD & Bluray thing settles down some.

I agree the 4306 looks like a nice receiver.

More specifically, you might want to wait on receivers which are HDMI 1.3 capable.

For those of us without HDTVs, and who would continue to use a new receiver with a standard tv set in the future, this wouldn't apply, right?

That settling down could easily be 5 years.

I would think if they're going to add HDMI 1.3 then they would have those decoders because that's one of the main purposes of having that spec.

There is always going to be something on the horizen. When you decide you want/need to upgrade, just do it. No matter how long you wait, the equipment is going to be somewhat obsolete in a matter of years anyway and worth next to nothing.

Do it, and enjoy it today.

What is the time frame on the HDMI 1.3 and the HD DVD and Blueray settling down? I want to have a home theater setup this Christmas.
