The AVR 1083 is available at really good prices through internet sales. Denon has really shut down internet sales of the 3805. Only Crutchfield can sell them over the net and they charge the full $1200.

I printed off the specs from the Denon site for both models. They are very, very similar. The 3805 weighs a pound and a quarter more than the 1083 and is rated to draw 7.1 amps compared to the 7.0 amps for the 1083.

I imagine that the 3805 will hold its value better but for hundreds of dollars less, the 1083 may give me 99% of the features and performance and the remote may actually be more convenient to use.

What do you think?

Thanks

Artie

The 1083 is exactly the same as the now discontinued model 3803. Compare the 1083 specs with the 3803 specs on their website.

I think you might kick yourself for not getting the AVR-3805. Being that it does have the lates features - 7 amplified channels, Dolby PL IIx, etc., even though it costs more, you could keep in on your shelf much longer.

I just recently opted for an open boxed 3803 for $550.00, with full warranty. I just wasn't able to justify getting the 3805 at $1200.00. You could always wait until the next model comes around to replace the 3805, and then pick one up much cheaper.
