I'm not sure exactly what you mean but the display of the receiver can be dimmed or turned completely off. This is great while watching movies or to avoid distraction in a dark room.

Yes. Denon calls it D. Comp, for Dynamic Compression. It is an option in the Dolby Digital decoding process.
