I have had my 3802 receiver for a few months now and have taken the time to program it (learn) other remotes. It works well (still saving for a Pronto or MX500), but I just noticed that when I turn the backlight function on I am not able to control any other components (DVD, TV, etc). Is this a common problem? Do I need to program the remote twice (once non-backlit and once backlit)? Thanks.

replace your batteries.

mine eats them up. you'll start to notice the LED and backlight get very dim. when the backlight is on there is no more juice to send a strong signal. This drove me nuts for about two days when I had my 3802 for about two months. "What the heck is wrong with my remote???!!!"

duh - replaced the batteries. quite embarassing.

easy enough to try right?
