Note: I don't know how to change the message name - it should read Denon 3300, not 330.

    --------

I am looking to upgrade my Denon 3300, but I don't know if I need to go to the 3805.

I really don't know what the DDSC means for my Denon 3300. I am pretty satisfied with it, except I would like a few more features, most of which are found on the 2805.

However, the 2805 does not have DDSC.

The list price in Canada is about $600 CAD more for the 3805.

So, can someone explain to me the value of DDSC, both in my 3300 and the no doubt updated DDSC in the 3805.

And also, the 192/24 vs. 96/24 stuff on the 3805 vs 2805.

Those things seem to be the only real difference, other than features, that make the 3805 different (wattage aside, since 100 watts is plenty for me..... unless the DDSC has something to do with "real" wattage)

    I listen to 50/50 music/ht.

I "might" be upgrading to 4 ohm Magenplanars too, if that makes a difference. But, this is probably a 5% chance.

I guess my question is: If I update to the 2805 from the 3300, what am I gaining; and what am I missing compared to upgrading to the 3805?

    Thanks in advance.

    Greg

I couldn't figure out what DDSC was either, but on the Denon site's description it relates to the Sharc "hammerhead" 32 bit processor (also listed as the processing chip on the 2805's description) so I don't think it has anything to do with power output.

I'd suggest you look at the specs and feature list on the 2805 at Denon's website and compare it to those of your present 3300. No doubt there are numerous improvements and new features but I'm not familiar with the 3300.

Any other Denon 3300 owners or 2805 owners able to comment?

(If someone knows how to change the name of this thread from 330 to 3300, please let me know. Thks.)

The DDSC is the surround processor which has been upgraded in the later units. If you intend to run 4 ohm speakers, I would think the 3805 would be the minimum horsepower you'd want....and from what little I know about Magneplaners, the 3805 if probably shy of what you'll need to drive them.

Thanks for the info. The remote really doesn't mean much to me since I have access to all of the remotes from Universal Remote Inc. including the MX-500/600/700/800 and the new MX-3000 touchscreen.

I'm mostly concerned with whether the DDSC is worth the extra $600 up here in Canada.
